Using speakers outside of a cab?

Instead of a square cab that may not support the weight of the speaker, how about a tube cabinet? I've seen some auto subs designed around tubes.
That way, the tube/speaker could lay on the ground and be self-supporting.
Maybe some TB'r knows about large cardboard tubes (from carpet rolls or other such industrial size applications).
Or some generous TB'r can put together a cab from scraps for the OP'r and ship it to him.

You have no friends with wheels???? I have a crappy 2x10 cabinet that I threw together a while ago. Plus 2x 10" MTX subwoofers to go in it. Not wonderful but if you wire the MTX units in series for 8Ω it'll give you something to play through until you build a proper cab for your 12. Again no charge.

using the cab-o-card try finding some screen material -protect the driver.... If U have to- BUT -YES go 4 the 2x10 offer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ASAP!!!!!
I hope none of the amp cab manufacturers see this, soon they will be on the market. Theres already cardboard guitars..
I had a cardboard case! Take the box the the bass was shipped in, cover it with duct tape; made a duct tape handle; put in a towel for padding... cardboard case! And it lasted almost a year!Any plans to branch out into protective cases?
