Double Bass Using two pickups

Can anyone help ?
I"m not knowledgeable about electronics and relatively new at computers. I have both the "Underwood "and the "Realist" pickups on my bass. I want to use the "Underwood"for pizz. and the "Realist" for arco.
I first tried an A/B switch but found the volume of the realist much lower than the underwood plus a popping sound when I switched. A student told me about the "Radial- Tonebone" it has vol. and tone settings for the B pickup and takes the A pickup unaltered. I'm using an "Acoustic Image"amp and I have a loss of vol. and bottom end thru the "Tonebone." Any ideas? I'd appreciate any help you can give me.

Is your Acoustic Image one or two channel? If you have the two channel it shouldn't be a problem to use both channels (with their own controls). If not you will need something like the tonebone. Hopefully, some other TB'ers will chime in with their experiences and maybe some other recommendations.

Try the Boss LS-2. I have a two pickup system(Rev. Solo and Full Circle and soon to switch to Realist and Full Circle). The LS-2 has individual level controls on channels A and B and an option to use both together, or seperate. I really like it.

I was recently watching a nice video of an old performance (late 70's early 80's?) with Sherman Ferguson and Kenny Burrell, some VERY nice bass playing on that.

Have you tried running both pickups concurrently rather than seperately? I know Red Mitchell was doing that for a while. Tim Givens (who posts here, but I can't remember what his screen name is) used to have about 5 different pickups on his bass, but he would just plug different ones in depending on teh room or whatever. I don't think he ever had a switcher hooked up.

Just wanted to say hi. I was leading the house trio at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee when you came through with Sarah Vaughn. That was about 1970. Jan Hammer was a real MF on piano and you had Jimmy Cobb on drums. I really liked your playing. Hope all is well with you.
