I bought a second rumble 200, what is the best way to hook them together to use both at once? Thanks

While "best" is very subjective and could include either complex or expensive, or both, solutions; most Rumblers I've heard from find the simplest way to connect 2 Rumbles, and many other brands of amps, is to run an instrument cable from the FX Send of one amp (the master) to the FX Return of the other (the slave). Plug your bass into the input of the master and those controls also control the slave. The pre-amp of the slave is bypassed and none of it's controls affect anything. You can also swap the master and slave with each setup, since they are identical amps you will get the same result whichever position they are each put in. Plus, in the event one amp develops a pre-amp problem, it may still work fine in the slave position.

To some people, however, the "best" solution is to use an effects pedal with stereo outputs, or a simple splitter box, or ABY box, to each amp's input. That way you can adjust each amp differently for contrasting tones at different volume levels for greater flexibility. Choices, choices!

Come show off your rig to The Fender Rumble Club. We'd love to see it and have you join us.

Hi G-Dog thanks for the reply. I like that simple method for starters, I will try that out. Master volumes of both amps should be set the same? Does this method (effects out to effects in) leave the master volume of the slave amp functional or do I use none of the controls on the slave amp?

In the simple FX Send to FX Return method for the Rumbles the slave becomes only a powered speaker, none of the controls on the slave do anything. The master amp controls all the sound of both. Simple, easy, lemon squeezy.

You can stack them vertically, covering the slave's controls (which do nothing anyway), and get some speaker coupling effect reinforcement. Those 280 watts thru 2x15" are quite formidable and should handle large venues.

Or you can separate them if someone on the other side of the drummer from you wants to hear the bass better. Do some home practice with both configurations to get familiar with the pros and cons of each.

Someday, when you're playing bigger venues, you may wanna add a couple of 115 cabs for 120 more watts! Chaining still applies. Stack as many as you want/can for more speaker coupling, or have a stack on each side of the drummer, whichever suits the situation.

    Good luck, Surfy!
