I'm a Scot, wear a kilt often, and still laugh my butt off (inside) whenever I see someone in a Utilikilt. They have uses, but look ridiculous.

Meh. I think they're overpriced, and their typical clientele may be a little outside the standard deviation, but I don't see them as being an affront to fashion.

Some guys get scared away by the fact that they would look like they're wearing a skirt. Others don't let that stop them.

Also, nobody seems to acknowledge that you can wear underwear under a kilt.

In my case that's not it. In the case of utilikilts, if it didn't look like someone bastardized cargo pants, I could be swayed. The real thing(s) stopping me are

a) kilts not bein a part of my heritage, at all.

b) not having an issue with wearing regular shorts

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should (unless it's a rental).

Kilts are brilliant, great for a night out, drives the ladies crazy ;-)

Utilikilts? Yeah, never in a million years.

I had one when I was in construction. I felt like a fool when I wore it, so I stopped.
