V-bass and bass synth question

Hi to all!
I am new to this forum but I'm reading it for a while!
I am interested to buy some pedals for my 4 string bass guitar, basically to produce good electro and synthetic suond.

Recently I found this thread speaking about bass synth :
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-4340.html

I found a LOT of multi effects and pedals for basses online. I found also V-bass System (that works in conjunction with GK-3B pickup):

It seems to be very powerful, but it seems to be also in major part a multi effects (or I'm wrong???). What about his synth capabilities? I like how Boss Syb-5 and EHX Microsynth sounds and I was wondering if V-bass System is able to reproduce the same kind of sounds, and will I have same possibilities with his synth options, plus everything else with different combination of effects, or it's not so powerful as synth? I know that there is a big difference in price, but if it offers everything I need, I'll take it in consideration.

Thank you in advance for your time and help!!
best regards!

welcome to the forum!

also, welcome to the world of trying to make the bass guitar into a synth... it's a lot of fun, and something i've dedicated a ton of time to exploring.

i can't speak specifically about any of the roland vbass stuff, but i can say that you can create extremely expressive, authentic synth sounds using all analog pedals. there are a few threads about my work with nerve (my band with drummer jojo mayer) that go into detail about what i use and how i use it, but feel free to ask any questions you might have about the non-midi/vbass/software approach to synth bass.

cheers,
john

Hi John,
Thank you for reply!!
can you post some links about threads you were talking about....this forum is huge, and haven't find anything....
Actually I am interested to make some electro-synth-kind-of -sounds, good and fat :) and as I am planning to bye some new gear (never used anything of that) I did some research on the web about gear used by others. I am not necessary interested to midi-to-bass conversion and if analog modulation is good enough I'll take it into consideration. I saw V-bass (older and new one) and I am trying to compare it with Boss SYB5 and HEX Microsynth and I was thinking, if V-bass (maybe older version) has the same capabilities as those pedals, regarding the synth sounds, plus other stuff, I'll rather have one thing on the floor then 5,6,7 pedals....
Thank you again!!!
best regards!

Hello again
is it possible to create sound with V-Bass System (using older version) like these????

I know that the guy in second video uses Ableton and other software, but, for main modulation he uses EHX Bass Mcrosynth

Please answer!!! :)

thanks!

You could do that with a V-Bass. The V-Bass is very flexible and can do almost anything. It has many parameters, which can mean lots of programming work. When deciding what sort of effects processor you want, this should be taken into consideration.

I used the V-Bass for about two years. I programmed a couple of synth bass sounds on it, one can be heard solo here: Link Removed Alas I don't have sound clips of the other synth sounds, it can do so much more.
Also note that the V-Bass does polyphonic synth sounds. None of the others can do that. (as far as I know)

Polyphonic with VBass system means you can do two notes or chords , something you won't be able to do with synth pedals.
And yes the you can program SYB5 sounds. And the tracking will be 100 times better with the VBass:D

I also have that pedal and it is holding my outside door now.....

hahaha!!! great one!

thanks to all of you so much for your help!

One more question :)
will V-bass work properly with divided pickup of TerraTec AXON AIX 103?
Would it work in the same manner as it would with Roland GK-3B?
sorry for stupid questions, but I'm absolutely new in all of this....
thanks again!
