This one has a pair of magnetic soapbar pickups coupled with a piezo bridge pickup. The magnetic pickup controls are Master Volume, Blend, Bass and Treble. The piezo has a stacked Volume and Tone that can be blended in with the magnetic pickups for tremendous presence and complexity of tone!
The wood on this bass is breathtaking in person although I am at a loss as to say what kind of wood it actually is. The back looks like lacewood and the body appears to be maple with some kind of reddish wood stringers. Possibly purpleheart or bubinga.
It's neck through design and hand carved body are really something to behold. The neck is by far the most comfortable neck I have ever played on any bass anywhere. It's thin and very fast!
The bass has a generally woody tone that can be dialed in to sound like a traditional electric fretless or an articulated upright. The combination of magnetic and piezo pickups can give you everything in between.
The scale is 34" and the string spacing is 17mm at the bridge. The nut measures 1.5" and it weighs 8 pounds 15.2 ounces on my digital scale.
