There is a tint on the neck. It's hard to photograph. Pat does a nice light tint. If it was clear, the neck would be pretty much bright white.

You know, now that I think about it, I already knew that Nino built 6'ers. In fact, I was the first one to post about it in the Valenti megathread a year or so ago. I guess I'm just getting old and senile.
I think maybe I'm not the biggest fan of the DA ProSteels.
They feel mid-scooped to me.
I have Sadowsky Blue Steel, and Dunlop steel at hand.

You can't go wrong with Sadowsky strings, especially their blue label steels or bright nickels.
fwiw, I tried Peduall and Dunlop SS, and liked neither any better; this bass is just bright on top by nature.
Right now, I have a lightly used set of DA XL170 that I took off another bass, and this is closer to what I want.
I started a thread in strings over this, and the two most common asnwers to "tame the highs, add some warmth/mids" were DR Sunbeams, and LaBella SuperAlloy; so I may give those a shot after gigging the DA once or twice.

as I said in the other thread, ask Nino if he uses 500k pots, I bet that's what's going on, than again ash and maple = zing, no doubt (which I love).
Another trick would be to install a .022 cap and turn down the tone pot way down. This would still allow more frequencies through the tone filter but cut the extreme highs - I did this on my metro MS5, back then .
