Valve Distortion. Budda Vs EBS Vs...

Hey guys,

I need a nice valve overdrive. I want something that keeps the bottom end true and sounds nice and phat. just adding some grit.

one of my favourite sounds is janes addiction's "price I pay" in which chany uses a Budda Phatbass.

The only problem is i'm finding it very hard to find anything decent in the most isolated city in the world (it's true...thats us)

So I'm gonna need to order one in.

Please share any experiences you have with either of them or suggest alternatives.

Check out DHA as well. Dave's based out of the UK, hand-builds the pedals, and can probably wire one up for Oz voltage.

We have already sold a few pedals into OZ. The VT1 and VT2 range of valve overdrives operate from a 12VDC power supply and the higher plate voltage is generated inside. I think OZ is 220Vac anyway like the UK? But, you will just need a good 12VDC power supply which I am sure you will find over there.

All of our valve overdrives have a guitar and bass version. The bass versions have an i/p pad for use with actives and the frequency response is tuned to provide a better bottom end.

i use it all the time, it can go from a subtle tubey growl to very saturated overdrive/ distortion. i use it mainly for low gain stuff and have it as my clean channel in an effects loop pedal.

I have the Budda Phatbass and love it! I switch the tubes so it now has one 12ax7 and one 12at7, instead of two of the latter. The overdrive is more present, however I seemed to loose some low end. This not an issue as I have a Sansamp BDDI after the Budda, supplying with lots of low end.

The only beef I have with it is the size and power requirements. I could easily fit four other pedals in the space that the Budda would've left and since it uses a 12VAC adapter that draws 1000mA, I would need a Burkey Flatliner power supply which costs a fortune and takes up even more space.
