Double Bass Vancouver BC GTG early 2015

So who's up for a GTG in the new year? I have a huge warehouse/shop space available three blocks away from the Vancouver L&M we can use and make as much noise as we want as early or late as we want. Street level roller door, no stairs so we can go big with gear. I'll have to clear specific dates with the man but he's ok'd it in principle. I'm thinking late Jan/early Feb? Weigh in with your thoughts and we'll get her goin' on.

Bob if you change your mind (hey it's only two days if you nurse an 8-ball and drive straight through................o_Ouh, sorry man 80's Loverboy tour flashback) we're on for a (soft) 2pm start and will be going until at least 7.

I just got a DPA 4099 (which I'm seriously impressed with so far) and have a Heil PR40, an AT ATM350, some different preamps and a Gage Sound Clip. If anyone wants to bring some amplification stuff to compare and discuss that's kinda what's on my mind gear-wise these days.

The Caffe Artigiano over on Robson makes terrific espresso and the Cafe Crepe does a good job with breakfast food:

There's a Milestones on Robson too, but its kinda corporate - Cafe Crepe is a local Vancouver chain of (I think) three restaurants now.

Ok, I did some thinking and some asking around and downtown just isn't the restaurant hang for most us theatre/musician types but couple of the girls in the shop really like a tapas place in Gastown (15-20 min walk) called The Sardine Can and there's a sandwich place down there too called Meat & Bread on the 300 block of Cambie just off Hastings that they were raving about....they said don't go at noon or you'll stand in line. And there's a JJ Bean just around the corner off Cordova in the the Woodward's Building courtyard that has good coffee too. I'm installing some projection screens right next door at the National Film Board tomorrow so that's where I'm going. One of my favorite places in the whole city is Zefferelli's Spaghetti Joint on Robson between Thurlow and Butte which is about 3 blocks from where she's staying. Like Jake says the coffee is very good at Caffè Artigiano and there's one about 4 blocks away from her in the 700 block of Howe St across from the Vancouver Art Gallery.

Oh yeah....I couldn't make a personal recommendation here 'cause I like my food cooked but there is more sushi in this town than almost anywhere outside Japan. Probably a few places on Robson.
