The VS695B and Rainbow VS600B are listed as 32.25", as is the CP795B. The VS900B as 34.25"

A prospective seller ran a tape from nut to saddles on a fretless VS600B and it is medium scale at a bit over 32.25" at the G saddle , allowing a little compensation. Weird how the catalogue has 34.25"

Must be a typo.

All bodies have the same size, so look at the bridge:
If it's all the way at the edge = 34"
If its not = 32 1/4

Ok. Passed on the bass. Seller wanted nearly as much postage as the bass cost.

Because it has a fraction in the number — 34¼ — and 22 frets, I assume that is a typo that should read 32¼ inches.

The VA series neckthrough VA900B is listed as 34" and 24 frets. And the bridge is in the same position as the others, well away from the edge of the body.

Now... they did make some models with the bridge closer to the edge of the body, but whether they were different models than in that early catalog, or later versions, I do not know — my only actual experience is with the VA series.

And yes, the best way to measure scale length is to ignore the bridge and measure from the nut to 12th fret and double it.

Huh. It doesn't matter what the bridge is or where the saddles are. Measure the distance from front of nut to middle of 12th fret and double it gives the scale length. Greco and probably others used to give the scale length specs in their catalogues as distance from nut to 12th

That's pretty much what I did, my old vantage's scale length was measured 33.75 doing those calculations. Most of what you'd find in vantage is from user collected archives such as The Models Specification, for the 600 you passed on, it would have been this page

Yeh those pages. This one too Vantage VS-600B – ‘Witch bass’
I guess the catalogue of the 1980's Vantage stuff I posted earlier, must be put together by enthusiasts, if it repeats the probable typo about the VS600B having a 34.25" scale length instead of 32.25".Mid 1980s Vantage Guitars Full Line Catalog – The Guitar Gallery I doubt an official catalogue would have had a glaring error in it about scale length.

I agree. Those were the seller's pictures on ebay. It's just the perspective.

I joined a new band and one of the guitarist pulls out a Vantage guitar!
Suddenly Vantage-players were in majority

Am I correct in thinking the tail piece shouldn’t be bowed like this? I would think the outer hooks should be straight across and not arched up.

This style of bridge is typically radiused. This is standard in the 3-point bridges used by Vantage in this era such as this one.

I think it may depend on the model. Mine was a VP710b and its bridge was to be flat and the radius was provided by the saddles themselves. I purchased an aftermarket flat Gibson/Epiphone style bridge, transplanted the Vantage saddles to it, and it worked perfectly.

If your’s is of that type, the spacing for the strings to go through the bridge will be different, as the bridge would have bent and opened up those spaces due to the cheap metal used. You can see that in the picture of the bridge in the threat linked above on page 3 or so.
