You can buy Vectran from any sailing supply place. I think the 3/16" stuff has a tensile strength of 1800 lbs. A piece long enough to do a tailpiece costs less than a dollar. My assistant Jed braids it in such a way that no knotting is needed. It's like a Chinese finger torture gadget.

Think that that stuff is close to the Velvet material? BTW I'm not surprized Jed knows how to braid.

My fabulous bass has no label and I'm trying to organize information regarding it's origin.
