"Versital"?

I agree.

I don't read posts that are rife with them. Some of the best bass players at TB can't spell worth a ****, but I just can't stand reading someone else's inability to express themselves verbally.

spelling on an internet forum is one thing, spelling in a paid advertisement is another.

when you pay for advertising, you are paying for proofreading, proffessional design, etc.

Another thing that bothers me is the misuse of there and their.
Don't forget your and you're. That one is nearly as irritating as defintely/defiantly.

And I know that my grammar and spelling is not perfect either. But I can generally go back and correct the truly horrendous mistakes either before submitting the post, or with an edit function. I'm fairly sure that most things I post are fairly coherent.

So why can't more of our native English speaking high school students write better in English than say Kserg, who I believe was Russian and learned English comparatively recently?.

Agree, and it appeared incorrectly in another banner ad they had here. I PM'd him to point it out and to suggest it casts the company in poor light, and he said others had done the same. It was fixed quickly.

At least he understood and agreed it was important rather than saying he "could care less".

Hmm.........loosers :)

Nice one, Bill! Fixed it.

See how it gets to me? After a long time of reading incorrect grammar, it has begun to seep into my own writing. :p

Of course, I'm not handing this in for a grade, either. ;)
Good man! :D

Actually splitting infinitives is considered acceptable these days by some authorities if the flow of the writing isn't impeded by it. I've even been known to occasionally do so myself. ;)

On the subject of punctuation, I've alway liked these examples....

The Importance Of Correct Punctuation

Dear John,

I want a man who knows what love is all about. You are generous, kind, thoughtful. People who are not like you admit to being useless and inferior. You have ruined me for other men. I yearn for you. I have no feelings whatsoever when we're apart. I can be forever happy - will you let me be yours?

Gloria

I want a man who knows what love is. All about you are generous, kind, thoughtful people, who are not like you. Admit to being useless and inferior. You have ruined me. For other men, I yearn. For you, I have no feelings whatsoever. When we're apart, I can be forever happy. Will you let me be?

Yours,

Gloria
