Abyss is a game-changing bass overdrive, offering bass players complete control over their tone by doing the job of two amps: instead of having to use a clean bass amplifier for fat bottom end and cranked amp for overdriven midrange tone, you can achieve the signature bass rock tone with a single pedal. Abyss adds a full-body punch without modifying your original tone and the Dirty and Clean channels allow you to draft your desired sound with just the right amount of richness added.

Utilizing bi-amp technology with two discrete circuits, Abyss Overdrive divides your signal down two paths. One of them stores your original dynamic and color, keeping it unmodified. The other path adds an overdriven sound with fullness and a punch like our celebrated No. 1 Overdrive. As the two signals meet again, the result is your original sound made more powerful, fuller and richer.

Like all KHDK pedals, Abyss is proudly crafted and quality-tested in Kentucky, USA.

Is this really possible in a pedal this small????

Maybe I'm just not seeing it......but I don't see how they could fit what they are saying this actually is into a pedal this size....

There's nothing that there that couldn't be fit into a standard pedal. It doesn't appear to be that complicated a circuit. It's yet another dual-band OD without a lot of controls on it.

So...it has a clean blend?

This is only a game changer if you haven't played the game since 1990.

Doesn't look any smaller than your standard 1590 (as used by countless other pedals that feature a clean blend, e.g. Darkglass).

Yeah this is what got me...it's just a clean blend...or is this not accurate? I guess it just annoys me that the company is kind of insulting the market. Or they don't really understand their market. Or they just think we're all not that bright. Idk. I think it's an example of crap marketing techniques.

That's a hell of a description for a blend knob.

Well…since they called it a "biamped" approach, I'm guessing the signal is buffered and then split into a high and low frequency channel (there's a number of ways to do a crossover or hi/low filtered splitter) at which point the signals get routed through independent clean and dirty gain stages (hence the biamp claim) after which they get summed back together.

Not exactly original - or a game changer - but probably it's a bit more than just a simple blend knob.

^ I don't see the word manufactured in this sentence. ^

Oh, and I am using a multi-faceted, slightly elongated, multi-colored, expertly crafted multi-function human interface device with standard and non-standard buttons to post this reply.

I was going to say you forgot about the crossover, but the way the adblurb's worded ...

... punch without modifying your original tone and the Dirty and Clean channels allow you to ...
... divides your signal down two paths. One ... unmodified. The other path adds an overdriven sound ...

There is no mention of where the crossover frequency is, so as far as I can see the only utilization of bi-amp tech is the part where the signal is split into two. No filtration/separation of highs and lows.

So, yeah, another dirt with a blend. *yawn*

As for the "crafted and quality-tested in Kentucky", I can remember when bike frames made in Taiwan that were painted and assembled in the US were legally labelled as "Made in USA" — such were/are the laws constituting what passes for "Made in USA".

Whatever, Joey Avridge isn't going to care about such minutia and will buy it.

Going to pass. But, I did hear the geniuses at WWCI* are working on a truly revolutionary pedal that can do anything and everything ever needed. Geared specifically for the Talk Bass community, I give you the Box of Carrots.

But can it blend?

Their [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] page gives some more information:
In Paducah, Kentucky, a family-run factory works with us every step of the way, crafting our pedals based on Antonin's design. They even plug in and test each pedal off the production line.

I would hope that any factory making pedals would plug in and test them. Whoever is doing marketing for this company needs to be fired.
