so if you want to talk about an ugly bass, make sure it's one of your own, or it will be deleted.

EDIT(jt) : the bongo addendum this goes for posts too. you wanna call a bass a toilet seat, that bass better have a handle or else you better own one.

if you have a negative opinion about an instrument, be sure to tie it to something beyond the subjective appearance - "the body was uncomfortable for me to play" or "the neck was too round for me, felt like a baseball bat".

otherwise, if you find something ugly, say so if such an opinion is asked for, otherwise keep it to yourself. this isn't rocket science, guys. respect other folks' instruments.

Read the rules.

Preach on brotha! Besides, who the hell cares how a bass looks?! When I'm wearing a bass for several hours on end in a studio session then going to my other band's place for a few more hours for a practice session, looks take a serious backseat to comfort. Quite often, a lot of unconventional body shapes are really comfortable. My Conklin and Rob Allen basses can be played all night if needed.

Oh, come on! Someone is going to be offended because some random person on the internet said a bass is ugly?! Who the hell cares what I think? People need to learn to like what they like and have enough self confidence to not care/be offended by what people say.

So let's try to make this objective...

If looked at, this bass may or may not hurt ones eyes...

I would be overjoyed to own and play this bass. If the looks offend you, just close your eyes and listen. If you're offended by the sound, you might want to consider taking up piccolo, or maybe bagpipes.

I like it too. At the very least they're building something innovative, lightweight, balanced, and ergonomically sound rather than the same tired, slavish rehashing of the crude slab designs from the 50's. I wouldn't mind taking it for a spin.

These two might be a little less intimidating (though I could do without the knobs):
