Im new to Victor Wooten, but he has quickly become my favorite bassist. What cd o his do you guys recomend I buy first to get a good feel of how he is and what emphasizes his style the most. thank you.
Not only is he a great bassist, but he has some wonderful insight into music in general. I recommend watching the "Interview with Victor Wooten" series on Youtube.
+ 1 on UFO TOFU by Bela Fleck. that is just outstanding. The sound he gets on these recordings is simply awesome.
I would love to know what he used to record that album with.
I like Bela Fleck and the Flecktone's double disc CD Live Art. Its got a wide variety of styles and guests performers. Vic plays plenty of sick stuff, especially considering how flawlessly he pulls it off live. The dude is a beast!
I have Vic's first solo CD but I can't listen to a whole song, much less the whole album all the way through. Solo bass stuff just doesn't keep my attention for very long.
Thank you guys very much. I have only heard a few of his songs yet he has already captured my full attention. Thanks to the basscast I found him. Great stuff.
my favorite is a song called sunset road from a bela fleck album.
There's no "look what I can do" stuff(not saying that there isn't a pace for that too...), just very musical playing.
Another nice one is tales from the acoustic planet also by bela fleck.
