Double Bass video violone

Sometime I wish there were still frets on the bass. It would make playing in tune so much easier. Ha ha

Also, I wonder why many "historical" players of the bass use an overhand grip halfway up the stick when it would be more performance-practice correct (the new PC) to use an actual bass bow like these with an underhand grip: [This invalid link has been removed]

I've talked to historical players who claim that there is plenty of documentation that overhand grip was also used. Most of the bows you see look like they're designed for underhand grip, I must admit.
