A non-musician friend just sent this and it is dated 8 hours ago. My apologies if this has already been posted. Mark Hoppus Asks Why Bassists Look So Bored | DC101
As a bassist in a classic country band playing simple (and often similar) bass lines all night, boredom is real. And jumping around on stage would get me fired before the end of the gig. But still, it was an amusing video.
Mistake your shyness for aloofness, your silence for snobbery. ~ Bob Dylan Mistake concentration for boredom.
Yeah, my reply to my buddy was essentially concentrating if it's not a totally easy bass line. And there is something to be said for having to be more stationary what with the bigger strings and bigger reaches and often can't have the bass flopping around all over like a little guitar. Guitars feel like toys to me now.
Fun video. I am pretty active on stage when playing electric. Usually there isn't enough room when playing upright and I am not a good enough upright player so I go into default bass player stance.
Hi, I just wanted to see these two threads on top for a minute or two. Thanks for sharing, again. I suppose not everybody has seen this. Thank you for your indulgence, BassCliff
