I Have just acquired a 70's ampeg svt head and i dont know to much about it. i dont know what year it is, the serial number is 089755, which on one site that i found said its was possibly even a 69'. i can get more pics if that is going to be a help. it turns on and works but hasn't been touch much in recent years. there is no ground in the plug and when plugged in it shocks you through the strings.

blue line? black line? Pictures would really help... Not that i am an authority on the matter. Just ordered a 73ish Ampeg of Ebay so Im in a similar situation myself.
Also: Do a search for the thread titled "70's Ampeg" i think its on the third or so page of most recent threads in the Amp section. It was authored by yours truly, and I got a lot of GREAT feedback from some TBers trying to help me date my SVT... hope this helps

yeah i didnt know, i just assumed it was an svt. i got this head and an old 2x15 sunn cab for $120. i dont have the cab yet but i do know that its pretty beat up
still a terrific deal. and 55w may not seem like a lot, but you'll be able to raise a ruckus with it and a 215.

+1 on a great deal, even after paying a tech to go through it you're still ahead. I paid $160 for a run down mid 70's (rounded corner blackline) V4 ten years ago. Good deal.
yeah my friend had gotten it for $100 with the sunn cab and a cheap hondo pbass from a guy who his dad had worked with. im pretty sure it hasnt been used in a long while
im in a band that is out of marquette. we have played b414 a few times in lansing but we havnt had to many downstate shows. we are playing at darkhorse brewery in marshall in june though
Dude, Darkhorse is awesome! I've gotten myself into some fun there a few times! I've played b414 a few times too. Years ago I played at the Washington Street Pub, which later became the Aurora in Marquette. The locals there are A-1 in making an out of town band feel at home. I'll be at the Loft (a few floors above b414) and Mac's in June.
Yep - I just sold one a month or so ago for $350. I still have one since they ARE great heads for what they are.
do you know where i could get this fixed up in or around lansing? Music manor didnt want to mess with it, elderly doesnt work on amps, and marshall music wanted me to pay a bunch of money just for them to look at it.
