Vintage Bass Celestion

I found this bass speaker with box. Month ago on my loft. It is as i can see Celestion G18C. It is my fathers speaker he used it 30 years ago for playing the bass. It is very strange 100w on 3ohm. I don`t know anything about this speaker, and i could not find any information about it. I only know that is very old. Can you give some informations about it? How much does it worth, and should i waste my time with it ?

When you write "with box" does that mean an enclosure or simply a cardboard box that Celestion shipped it in?

3 ohms might be the DC resistance, which means it's a 4 ohm speaker. A 100 Watt power rating means that it's old and might be fragile.

It might be fine for practice and/or low level gigs, but I wouldn't expect too much from it.

The fact that there is a screw head showning through the label on the magnet might not be a good sign...

When i said box i thinked on cabinet. Does it worth ? I find out how old it is. Celestion worked in Thames Ditton only until 60`s. It is very very old ?

It's probably not worth much unless Marshall used it in one of their bass cabinets back then (and I don't know if they made any 1x18s then...I'd have to look at my old Marshall catalog). A 100 watt 18 in. loudspeaker is generally of little use today.

Thank`s a lot for help. You`re right i`m not from US, ebay is worldwide but Serbia is the only European country without Pay Pall. Can 18" be used as bass speaker? Is it to big ?

18s are fine for bass and are known for deep, old-school tone.

You might try contacting Marshall to see if they ever used that speaker in one of their bass cabinets. If they did, it might really drive up the value.
