Vintage Conar tube tester!

Hi All,

Please move this post if it's the wrong forum, I think this is the right one.

I love cool tools for testing things, I have a couple tube amps and wanted to be able to check tubes myself, well my father in law said this was in his basement and brought it over. I love this kind of old equipment! Have not had a chance to try it on some old tubes yet, I think I need a manual to make sure I don't melt my face off.
Any words of advice or caution? These old guys appear to still be in use and sell for only like $100-200 in working condition.

These are fine for checking if the tube is dead or alive. Will give a general indication of health. If you want to do some matching you need a tester that measures transconductance though. I sue both types as the older one I have checks for microphonics as well which the transconductance tester does not.

Are any testers also capable of doing a burn-in of tubes?
