VINTAGE EV TL806D 2-12" WITH MID HORN

So I grabed this on a local Facebook free page. This is a beast of a cabinet, 88-lbs plus. It has two EVM12L Series II speakers with an added EV Mid Range Horn. Sounds awesome. 400-watts @ 4-ohm.

I believe that was originally part of the commercial audio and cinema line from about 40 years ago.

Sweet find. Be careful with M.I. use as EV (even though I love my EV stuff) is a little strange with ratings compared with the "norms". Take their note seriously though: " Warning--Not for road use".

In the right audio circles or parted out. If you want to unload try Vintage or Classic audiophile boards first. Those guys will pay $10,000 for speaker cables

Wowsa! Yea I think it is kind of rare, would rather keep together as opposed to parting out. Thanks!

IMO, it's not that big of a deal. The cab itself is part of the TL-series designs that included the popular TL606 and TL606D. (The 'D' designation indicates 'double': a TL806D is a double 806 and a TL606D is a double 606 -- literally just two of the same enclosures stuck together. There were probably countless iterations of this same design used in auditorium PAs, cinema sound systems and various other sound reinforcement applications -- it was never intended as a bass instrument system, per se, although the LF enclosure can be used for one. And don't confuse rare or obscure with valuable... just sayin'.

Not rare at all, we have scrapped cabinets like this from cinemas and commercial installations that were decommissioned, pulled parts and ran the cabinets through a "shredder" right into a dumpster. They are just a particle board cabinet worth almost exactly zero.

The EVM12L's in good shape are definitely worth something. Just do a quick ebay search. Still a very sought after driver.
