Depending on how 'authentic' you want to go... this is my '66 J which was refinished in Oly white. The thin brass base-plate as noted was secured by the two triangle window spikes (used to hold glass in a window frame under the glazing) but as you can see here, once they were imbedded a dollop of solder was added to keep it from moving. At least I'm guessing that is why although I can't imagine what would make them move once imbedded. No wires were connected to those two solder dams. A Fender/CBS factory mystery.
