Vintage Modified Jaguar Club Sign-Ups Here

anyone else still rocking the stock Fender brand strings?

they cut into your fingers a bit--they're not great in terms of feel--but they do have bounce.

I'm still using them. I think they sound really good on the Jag - unlike any of the other basses I bought this past year with (supposedly) the same strings on them.

Maybe the Indonesian 7250 NPS strings are really from Fender, since the MiM Deluxe had garbage 7250s on it.

What I did was take the other three sets of 7250s off the instruments I bought and stuck them in glad bags and saved them - and MAYBE I'd be tempted to put them on the Jag - if I didn't have a set of 45 ROTOs to go on it next - but right now I'm very happy with the 7250s on it so far.

I just got done with a 4-hour lesson on the Jag and although I am tired, my fingers are just fine. Try to play them a while and see if you don't develop more appreciation for them like I did.

Not really - the body is 1/2" longer than my Deluxe/Precision Jazz and it's still 14" wide at the widest part of the bouts and pretty much the same all over as either a P or a J by Fender/Squier.

They LOOK smaller - but it's deceptive - an optical illusion.

They weigh considerably less though by at least a full if not more pound(s).

At 8 lbs/0 ozs, mine weighs 2 ounces less than my SR500 Ibanez. My Deluxe J weighs 9 lbs/4 ozs.

I'm still rocking the stock strings... Someone said that the ones that have the red silk on them are the good ones... So that means if that I buy the exact same number I am likely to get different strings? And they suck now? I would stick with these cause I like them but if they aren't all the same I'll probably try to find a consistent brand that I like

The Indonesian 7250s with red silks are pretty good, but the whole rest of the Fender 7250s are a crapshoot for quality or even playability, with black, red or no silks. I think I've said that a few times on TB already too.

The strings currently on my Jag are great - but maybe only on it - as I had them on a couple of other Fender and Squier basses this past year as new equipment, and they sucked badly.

I have them (the new 7250s) in boxes awaiting - for I don't know what!

The next set of strings I will put on the Jag when these eventually die are ROTO 45s as they are much more consistent and trustworthy and are really so very close to real Fender 7250 NPS strings that I bet you won't notice any differences at all. .

Whom does Fender think they are fooling anyway!?!

I still have mine on there after about 45 days, playing about an hour a day. They felt somewhat dull and lifeless even when new. They feel about the same now. The E string in particular feels dull somehow.

I used to always use Dean Markley Blue Steel Roundwounds. As soon as I kill the stock Squier strings, I may try rotosounds.

mine just came in a day ago! :hyper:
