Vintage Solid State

Yo man,

Looking into picking up a new bass head (or combo). I want something that's pre amp tubed, and about 300+ watts. Fully tubed is just too much for what im looking for. So far Acoustic amps are really the only thing I've come by, and i have found no good demo vids of one, what do you think of em?

I'll mostly be playing a fender 51 reissue P, or 73 musicmaster out of what ever i get. If you've got any amp suggestions, throw em at me please! (I'm also open to any newer gear...)

Peavey T-Max -
would be an awesome buy. I had one for a long time and loved it. It has 2 channels Tube/Solid State that you can blend if you want. Nice EQ, and it's like 500 watts. I paid like $350 for one about 6 years ago.
Fender M-80-
This was from the late 80's early 1990's all solid state, but damn this thing sounded good. I picked it up for like $100 and have since traded it. Wish I hadn't, It's only like 160-200 watts but this thing kept up with everything. It was so loud! and it basically sounded like John Paul Jone's tone in Zeppelin.
Carvin BX500 -
This isnt vintage but it's my favorite class d amp and it sounds awesome and it's cheap. I think carvin's tag line was: 5lbs, 500 watts, for under 500 bucks. I really do like it...It looks kind of puny on my stack of Aguilar and Orange cabs but it makes em thump!

acoustic amps were all solid state. i don't think hybrids came around until the mid-80's.

Old GK or Acoustic. I love my Acoustic 370 head.

Also if we're in the 300watt preamp tubed ballpark, I can't go without mentioning the Mesa Walkabout!
Its a LOUD head and really can get close to those vintage tubey tones, while being lite and having tons of versatility!
my 2c, though the guys in the amps forums can help surely!
