Vintage sound from a modern 5 string Precision?

Thank you all for your helpful advice about strings and pickups, and your snarky takes on 5 string P-basses. Thanks especially to La Bella, for making a 5 string set of Low Tension Flexible Flats. I think they may be the Goldilocks strings. TI Jazz Flats are great, but they do require a lot of restraint, being extremely floppy. The La Bella LTFs are just a little stiffer so I don't have to hold back quite as much. They sound about the same as the TI's, or maybe a little better. Besides, they cost half as much! The brand new LTFs sound so much better than the slightly-broken-in Chromes I had, to my ears anyway. Chrome lovers, PM me and I will send you a set that's cut for a Fender 5 string if you PayPal me just the actual cost of shipping! :)
