Vintage soviet basses on the bay

So not only was the "missle gap" a farce, now we learn there was no bass gap?

i've played one of those and it is the worst instrument I have ever played in my live. where I live, these basses are not so rare and they are way cheaper, around 50 euro. Actually they are the cheapest basses you can get. the tone sucks, the action is too high... you cant get it lower, I don't know why the truss rod doesn't work right. you can see this on the last photo of the bass.

Poor analogy. Consumer goods are very different from the services you're very obviously referring to.

Also, CBS then bought Leo Fender's company with a definite profit motive and proceeded to ruin it, at least in the minds of many.

Yeah, at the time CBS Fender was considered inferior to Leo era but nowadays early 70's Fenders are highly regarded. That was right in the middle of the CBS period so the poor quality of CBS must have been exagerated.

Well, the balalaika my grandfather brought from his business trips to Russia (he was working in a major steam machinery/turbine installation company) has six strings without any mods - and they're 3x2 (three doubled, unison tuned).

My friends balalaika only had three strings, two of them were tuned the same. It confused the hell of me for a second when I first strummed. I don't know if thats how they're supposed to be though.

On the other hand, they may have built the worst looking basses and cars (excluding Scandinavian cars of course ) but they have the most beautiful women on Earth
