Violin bass for heavy metal?

Going to my violin bass wouldent be my first choice for playing the METAL, for the more mellow or acoustic stuff for sure.

This one with the volume and tone open will do it's thing in metal or heavy rock, if it suit's you, that's a matter of taste.

Says who? 20 years ago it definitely would have been considered metal, and Elephants is heavier than most Maiden, any Ozzy, and even most Sabbath. Are they not considered Metal anymore? They invented it.
