Looks like one of the many violin/viola style bases made in Japan in the 60's. They are mostly copies and variations on the EKO basses from italy. They tend to be fully hollow and often sound VERY much like Hofners, probably owing to that fact. They were sold under many different brand names, most of which don't actually mean anything. I have a similar "Crown Professional" model with pickups that look just like yours, but no bridge cover, in a different color and with other differences.

They come in a wide variety of headstock shapes, pickup/knob arrangements, colors and other variations. Mine has a scroll headstock like an upright. Looks cool, but neck-dives faster than any other bass I've ever played.

Nice to see that yours has a case. Finding a hard case for these can be quite difficult.

Royal Artist?
C. Bruno was a major New York dealer/distributor of all kinds of instruments. They were absorbed into Kaman probably back in the 70's. They sold a number of models with the "Royal Artist" brand. Some may have been made by Regal or Harmony, some may have been rebranded Teisco's/Japan, also distributed under the brand Ventura.
