Beat me to it! Had the exact same situation as OP, and don't regret that little addition at all.

stacked 2bad bass/treble preamp. Replace the stock tone pot with push/pull for active passive and use it as tone control as before. Mostly when running the bass passive, otherwise its left full open ussually.

You'd actually need to find a 3PDT push/pull pot to fully remove the capacitor from the circuit (or a switch on both the tone and volume pots), otherwise the passive tone is fully functioning even in active mode.
