Double Bass Volume Difference between Slap and Pizz

I'm working on getting a nice amplified sound while slapping more than I normally do. I have a 'clicky' pickup coming and a blender and all that jazz. I've notice that there is a huge difference in volume on notes that I slap versus don't slap. When I pluck the string to get that first 'click,' the fundamental note is MUCH louder than that same note if I'm simply playing pizzicato. I'm finding that unless I change the volume electronically, I'm really having to overplay the pizz notes to have them come even close to matching the volume of the slapped notes. I'm pretty aggressive on both the pizz and slap technique, and I'm finding it difficult to slap 'politely.' Do any of you guys have solutions to this problem?
