Volume of Scarlett interface

Anyone have any tips on how to get more output from a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface? I get great volume on headphones but it’s quiet through my studio monitors. I have Kala speakers, good quality. I know the interface isn’t super powerful but any suggestions?

Two ideas.

Turn up the volume knobs on the back of your speakers.

Upgrade to the 3rd gen Scarlett interface. The smaller second gen interfaces have a fairly low output. I think in the 2nd gen you have to be up around the 2i6 before the output level is decent.

What's feeding the monitors. The interface, your computer, a mixing board? I think more info would be of great help. Also, are your monitors actually Kali speakers? Which model.

The volume on the speakers is at 2pm.

Interface is connected to speakers via TRS and to macbook pro via USB.

Good question about the monitors. They are Kali LP6. I have never opened them to check the speakers themselves. I bought them on Reverb second hand.

I turned up the speaker volume a bit more and it helped a little. I may just be expecting too much from the interface. I mean, I can hear the bass, it's just not loud. And if I increase the gain beyond 12pm, it starts to get a little dirt. The volume is as if I were playing through my Aguilar TH 350 and Bergantino 12" cab at almost the minimal gain and volume.

The 2i2 (at least mine) has two phone jacks for line out. No need for TRS, TS will do fine. I assume the speakers expect line level signal?

Small monitor speakers are not designed to blow you away ... more for accuracy.

to get a balanced signal I needed TRS or XLR. At this stage I think it’s pretty clear my expectations just weren’t set properly. The output in headphones is good. Without headphones it’s mediocre. Not a biggie.
