Volume pedal opinions

Well, Mission Engineering makes one that's bombproof, but a bit more expensive.. passive, no 9v required. If you've got a long signal chain of true-bypass pedals (ie, lots of cable between the bass and amp without any buffering to support the signal) you might want an active volume pedal.. I think Ernie Ball makes both an active and passive which seem to be well-reputed.

Active huh? I don't have a ton of pedals (actually I have 5). I thought since I have passive basses I would have to get a passive pedal
