Volume pedal recommendations - DVP Mini?

I'm thinking about getting a volume pedal to put at the end of my chain.
Use cases:
1. General adjustments mid set while keeping my pass signal unchanged (consistency for the envelope filter)...
2. Volume swells
3. Normalizing between different patches (kind of a variant of 1)
4. Use while trying new C4 presets - some are way hot. I could use a limiter for this as well, but a volume pedal seems to be another way to do it. Bring the volume down, try the patch, bring volume back up.

My bass is active and the signal is fairly hot.

I like the idea of the mini format but have no idea how much more difficult (or easier) it is to get a feel for than the old EB pedals (only thing I've ever tried, and that was long ago).

Would the DVP Mini fit the bill?
Other things you would recommend over that (and if so, why?)

Never used one on bass but when I played guitar I was very happy with a DeArmand. I like the full size, seems to have better control with more travel than a mini. YMMV

Used a DVP Mini in my signal chain for a while, ended up getting rid of it. Sweep was poor for me, it functioned more like a switch for me. I had off, 30% volume, 80% volume, and full volume. It was a very abrupt switch between those volume points in the sweep. I swapped it out for a used Mission VM Pro, haven't looked back. Sweep is way better, more comfortable on my foot.

For non dirt volume swells, ideally you'll need the pedal beginning of the chain and a passive pedal. For dirty swells then post dirt pedal is needed and probably an active pedal is required (due to the higher gain stage). If you are popping a volume pedal at the end of your chain you will almost certainly need an active one.
If you want to control your C4, then you'll need a passive expression pedal with the right wiring.

i have a Morley volume plus (the large version) and IMO, it's the best volume pedal that i've ever owned or tired (and i've tried quite a few)

I have the Ernie Ball VP junior, which is passive. If I put it at the front of the chain, it's pretty decent but does color the sound a little (more mids). If I put it at the end of the chain (among other reasons, for adjusting to C4 preset volume differences same as OP), it completely sucks the bass out of the sound, which I guess is not surprising since it is simply a passive volume control. So I am also looking for what Kesslari is looking for.

If you are willing to go with a full size option, Mission Engineering VM Pro. It's an active pedal that can go wherever you want in the chain. I had mine right in the middle of my board for a good number of months, right after my drive pedals.

Only reason I took it off was that lately I have been using it more as a mute than a volume, and I needed the room to fit an incoming HOG2. I'm hanging on to it, because if I ever need a volume pedal again, I don't think I will get a better option.

If that's too big, the newer Boss volume pedals have a Low-Z and a High-Z model, depending on where you would place them in the chain. Bigger than a mini volume, smaller than a full size.
