Today I installed a new pick guard on my Squier Classic Vibe 60's P-Bass. After carefully putting everything back together, the bass only puts out about 25 percent of the volume that it used to. In other words, I have to really increase the volume on my amp just to get any usable volume, whereas the guitar used to be quite loud when I had the volume only on 2 or 3. The volume pot does work, though it is not as sensitive and seems kind of sluggish in terms of increasing the volume. Also, the tone control doesn't affect the tone anymore.
There is no buzzing or humming, and I didn't damage or disconnect any wires in the control cavity that I can tell. The new pick guard does have some shielding around the control cavity, although the old pick guard also has it around the pickup area; not sure if this has anything to do with the problem, but I wanted to mention it. Any idea why the sudden drop off in output and lack of tone pot response? Thanks.
