didn't vote because it's just okay for me, not awesome and certainly not crap. i prefer your ocd clips!
Sounds pretty good. I'd be gong for a lower gain, fatter tone, like maybe the SG with the gain low, maybe even the tone around 9:00. It definitely sounds good for a tube screamer, yeah, kind of more open.

The vintage SG Basses sound a lot different than mine does I think, based on everything I've heard on recordings with the vintage EB-3's and such vs. what I get with my SG. But I can't imagine a vintage SG not being able to get some great tones. As I understand it, the vintage EB-3 will have an even deeper and muddier mudbucker, but I'm not sure how the bridge pickup will differ, and on my SG Bass that's the key to the throatiness of my tones whereas the thump and low growl comes from the mudbucker.
I did take the Sparkle Drive out to the gig last night, and I left it on all night long. It sounded so organic, there was no point in ever switching it off, even on those more introspective bits. It sounded amazing. Not unlike my cranked SVT but at a gig friendly volume. It was an amazing gig, huge crowd, and any time I get to play loud distorted bass, or especially Neil Young covers, I'm happy. The Sparkle Drive really got to rip in for some solos. I didn't even have to play anything cool, the tone speaks for itself, and it was great with the wah. For now the Sparkle Drive is definitely staying on my board, it's perfect for the three piece situation I was doing last night. But keep your eyes on the horizon I got another pedal coming and soon will have another one on the way.
First is the MXR Silicon Fuzz, a Silicon Fuzz Face with a really cool buffer on it. If it's like the old red Dunlop Fuzz Face though the caps will need to be upgraded, that one cut a lot of bass. Then I think I'm going to get me a Lovepedal ProValve. Check it out:

That has some serious potential to do some damage with my SG Bass. I've been looking for a good distortion I could use for my rhythm and lead stuff all in one, and the two channels on that thing looks, well, great. Lots of gain available. Especially if I'm going to be doing more three piece gigs where the guitar player often drops out to sing and leaves me to hold the whole thing down on my own some more gain will be really handy.

ah crap, I just bought an EBS multidrive after agonizing it vs. the Box of Rock (which I tried and ultimately didnt like) and now you pop up with more clips of a drive pedal...thanks man, thanks alot!

The EBS MultiDrive is one of a few pedals that I did like pick or fingerstyle, I didn't like the Box of Rock fingerstyle, if you're a fingerstyle player. But! I also like the Sparkle Drive with pick or fingers... sounded great with pick and fingers last night.
I'm mostly a pick-style player when I want to use distortion. I'll post my thoughts of the multi-drive somewhere, sometime after I get it lol.
The MultiDrive is a good pedal, the sound I got out of it was actually strikingly similar to what I got out of my Box of Rock with my playing style, just a little bit different, and I think one of the things you'll notice is the MultiDrive, at least in my experience, has great response with just about any way you want to play through it. Hope you dig it!
Ok so because this poll is going so well I just have to ask... does not at least one person think these soundclips sound like crap? Seriously? Everyone likes my tone? That's unheard of!
Do you really need that someone doesn't like your tone? I think saying a tone sounds like crap its a very strong statement... a better statement would be "I don't like it" "I cannot find a use for it" or something like that, for example I think you've heard Jimi Hendrix specially live well sometimes when he got very high and crazy his tones where more noise than sound and even then people liked it so I really think there aren't crap tones... or at least not too many its like they say "there are no ugly women..."
Well, I've got a Sparkle Drive I had modified by Bob Keeley a while back. I used to have it on my guitar pedalboard (before I discovered Barber ODs).

I'm assuming these are all with the Gain maxed on the Sparkledrive, because I've never heard my sparkle drive get that over-driven. But, I don't need it to. Most of the time mine's set at about 1/2 to 3/4 gain and at least 1/2 to 3/4 of my original bass sound blended back in via it's blend pedal.
Just a tad of hair. Most of you guys probably wouldn't even notice it as an effect.

To be frank, I like the Sparkle Drive more than I've liked any of the three Bass-Drives I've owned. I think it just sounds, I don't know, better I guess. Sounds better live than any of my Bass-Drives ever did, and you don't have to deal with low end loss if you don't want to, which is an issue with the Bass-Drive.
For the clips up top the gain was cranked, but I did another clip in here somewhere with a lower gain setting, I think it's on the first page. It does sound very good for more subtle stuff too, and that clean blend can make it very subtle if you want. Definitely a pretty versatile pedal, I definitely agree there.

Thing that I like about it is, that you can have a high gain setting yet mix it back to where it's just a tad of hair and edge to your sound while keeping a full punchy bass sound. Kind of gritty sprinkles on your big bass cup-cake.

This is an overdrive pedal based on the vintage TS808 format, it includes the original JRC4558 opamp, but has been modded with metal resistors and polyester capacitors which creates a tighter midrange, a crsiper high, and overall IMHO a far better capacity for note definition than the original 808. They have also added a clean boost channel which allows you to blend the clean signal with the overdrive circut. This allows you to boost the direct clean signal which in turn restores the attack and feel which is usually lost in most pedals when the signal is compressed in the ovedrive circut.
I play in a three piece Sludge/Stoner band and this thing has been my best friend since day one...combined with The EHX BBM and a Boomstick Bottom Feeder it is flat out insane
