Vox Tube Combo

Meh.

Why an 8"?
There's just no need for the whole thing to be so light. Under 10 pounds for the whole dealy just tells me they could have made it a useful 112 or even 115 for like 20 or so pounds.... Still nice and light. IMO there's just no reason for keeping the speaker so little if they're going to use such a light chassis, amp, and enclosure.

Curious though about how a 50 watt "tube amp" draws 3 amps and operates with a 19v wall wart.

Coincidentally enough, I just bought a vox ad50vt for my guitarist 2 days ago, (a craigslist deal), and had a chance to play with it for several hours. I'm impressed by how well executed that amp is. If vox has done an equally good job on this one, I bet it will be a sweet little practice amp.

The Nutube is an interesting bit of technology.



But not without a few caveats. Vox is also using them in its MV series of miniamps.

There was a pretty thorough review of one of the MVs recently. And although it's a guitar amp, it might be worthwhile to watch it all the way through. Because some of what emerged was good to know if you're thinking about getting a Vox with a nutube in it.

Yeah, I believe this little nutube bass amp is the exact same as the guitar amp but with bass tuned parameters. Note that there are 3 "voices" for three different guitar amps (can't figure out why they didn't just make one with three voices). I personally did not think they came close to the guitar versatility and sound of the VT100x and VT40x, which I own as personal guitar amps because i really like them. And I agree it would be mostly used for practice but could be very handy for playing bass along with acoustic guitars. Now if it handles an additional speaker, it may actually be enough for a very lite band gig but don't know yet. I ordered and received their little Adio battery powered bass amp. I purchased the guitar version for myself as I liked it a lot - and still do - but the bass version did not have what it takes to make my personal product specification. I will likely try out this new one soon.
