VT Bass 500 with Hartke Hydrive 112

Here is my black faced HX112 on top of a DIY 15". Luv the sound and the look.

I set the cabs for 4ohms if using only one, and 8 ohms for two ... I turn on the limiter on the amp. I have the volume at 12:30 and the bass at 2 o'clock. treble and mid at 12 o'clock.

Played through it for the first time last night. Great sound as you would expect from the VT Bass. Sounded good through the speaker. I had the high pass on the speaker set to -6 and ran it at 8ohm. I couldn't hear myself too well against the drums and guitar player but that was mostly my doing as I was apprehensive about pushing it too hard and also I didn't have the cab tilted up or on a stand. Also played my passive jazz bass. So those were some factors with that issue. When gigging comes around I'll most definitely add a 2nd one IF I'm not run direct. No complaints about the amp or cab. It was a good test run for future use.

I've got 2 HX112s and an HX810. I like the 12's much better but 2 HX112's cant beat the volume of the 810. I've debated dumping the 810 for 2 more HX112's, 4 of those suckers would make for a nice modular rig to cover any size room. Maybe run 3 or 4 HX112s off of a Mesa D-800 (2 ohm stable) would be a good match.


Those Hartke 12's can take a beating. I've gigged them with a LH1000 Bridged into 2 of 'em, just be easy on the bass knob and you're fine. I just picked up a Peavey miniMega (1000 watts RMS into 4 ohms) and it goes great with the Hartke 12's. Havent gigged the peavey head yet but the loud basement test was good.
