nah. 410 in the square box beams your mids at knee height. Get something that stacks vertically.
Grab a second 1x12 - great set up.. The 1x12 for smaller rooms etc (use your ears) and 2x12 for larger settings...if 500w into 2x12 is not enough, there ought to be PA..
I have never found the single cab to be loud enough even in rehearsals (with fairly quiet bands). By the time you've got enough volume you've blown the speaker. I did this last week, but admittedly the speaker had been smelling bad on and off for a few years.... Lucky I have a replacement driver in the shed.
Two of them together get loud enough for most situations but if you don't want two then a 2x10 or 2x12 would probably be the best bet.

I think I'll give the Tech 21 B112 Cab a try. Price is good, it weights 38 lbs and was essentially made to pair up with the Amp. Why not?
Don't you already have a 112? Realistically I don't see the Tech 21 being that much better than the Hydrive 112. Unless you're returning the hydrive 112 to do so, for just over half the price of the Tech 21 B112 you could have a second hydrive 112 cab. Bigger gigs bring both.
Basically from what I get as long as I'm using a single Hartke 112 for small bars/small clubs without pushing it too far I should be fine? I'd really like to try the Hartke because as mentioned Sam Ash has them going for $279 and ZZounds said they would match the price for me at $276. The Tech 21 Cab does sound good in the demo's I've heard. I've never gigged before and we have some gigs coming up soon so this is all new to me, I'm used to just practicing in jams DI'd to the PA. I do appreciate everyone chiming in though with their thoughts.

The only reason I'm unhappy with the Hydrive 112 is the shiny grill, which I painted black, and the fact that I don't have 2.
For me it was a dumb buy because I already have a 4 ohm Bagend 2-10 cab and an 8ohm SWR Goliath 2 4-10 cab.
I can't really use the Hydrive with either cab for louder situations and I can't really use any of the cabs together.
How they sound aside, one advantage of the hydrive 112 (other than price) is can run at either 8 ohm or 4 ohm.
With that said I'm sure your head is plenty loud enough at 8 ohms.

Thanks man. In my older band I used to practice with a hand me down Hartke VX 215 powered by a Behringer amp. Had a great experience with that cab and with Hartke's customer service it keeps me gravitating toward getting the Hartke 112.

We would recommend running the VT Bass 500 at 8 Ohms with the single 12" Hartke speaker. You could run it at 4 Ohms but you would really have to be careful. Even at 8 Ohms you are still on the edge and running the amp too loudly into a single 12 could possibly damage or blow the speaker. You get to a point of diminishing returns with a single speaker just like a smaller cab. Even if the cab will not blow, you can only get so much coverage out of a single 12" speaker. The bass player in my band uses a single 12" for smaller gigs and will add a second 12" cab (coax) for louder gigs. Even at that, on some outdoor stages where they provide backline, the 410 and 810 rigs just put out way more sound regardless of the power fed to them. The VT Bass 500 is really quite loud when run through two of its matching cabs. I guess it depends on your situation. With the PA systems available today it seems kind of pointless for a band to be so loud on stage.
Thanks. As of right now it will only be for our practices, small bars and small clubs. We have a PA as well that I run direct in to. Shouldn't require anything over the top.
Won't have a chance to play it until the next practice
