VT Deluxe Loop

I did a search on this, but couldn't come up with anything definite. I was wondering if anyone has ever used the loop on their VT Deluxe. If so, what do you run in the loop?

I run a Boss DD-6 in the loop. The delay sounds a bit quiet compared to usual, it seems like only the looper mode gets to unity gain (maybe my settings are too hot..?).

Edit: This isn't an awful limitation for me because the looper is awesome on the DD-6. Also I always have the loop enabled.

I used to run my chorus pedal in the loop of the VT deluxe so that if I use the DI of the VT, it will have my chorus sound in the signal.
But now I just run it all in line because the cables look messy on the board and having to activate it with the channel B switch seemed a bit fiddly.
I can see how it would be useful in the studio if the VT was your main DI.

The only thing I've tried putting in the loop on mine was a dirt pedal of some sort (probably my OCD?). I remember that it sounded awful, but my OCD isn't a great pedal for bass and the effects loop is the wrong place to put distortion. I haven't bothered trying anything else in there because I just go pedalboard > VTD > power amp and it keeps the cables simple that way.

Behringer OC-3 clone. That way, it is only in the path when it is ON. I have my other effects, including another octaver, before the VT

The loop is in series with the rest of it. Don't shoot me if I am wrong but fairly sure it comes before the final level adjustment.

Yes I have my AMT volume - Zoom MS-70CDR - Ditto in the loop. That way I can have modulation after the VT amp sim & prep the effect with the loop off then drop it in when needed.

I have also extended the Bank footswitch to a Boss FS-5U in a more accessible location.

Oh, I also had to beef up the VT eq on the patches with the loop on as it loses a bit of bottom end with the loop engaged. @tech21nyc any comments?

Bass input > Brassmaster Fuzz clone > Moog Drive (+ Expression pedal) > VT Bass Deluxe > ( FX send ) > Line 6 M9 (+ Expression pedal) > Dittox4 Looper > HPF@35Hz > EBS Multicomp > (FX Return) > VT Bass XLR Out to mixing board /Jack to amp


All synced with Disaster’s area Smartclock sending midi to the Ditto and the Line 6 M9, with 2 additional tap outputs (occasional Roland Drum machine and whatnot…)

How'd you add the remote switch?

Just paralleled off the back of the original switch & added a socket on the side beside the FX return. I'll take some pics tonight if i remember.

We recommend time based effects like reverb, delay, chorus etc to be used in the effects loop. The loop is post SansAmp circuitry so running distortion devices in the loop is not advised. The loop should be compatible with most stomp boxes. There will be a difference in sound in certain applications and the best thing to do is experiment and go with what works best for your application.

anything wrong with stacking other distortions in the loop before your time devices for use with cleaner sansamp presets?

You can try it. if it's not too noisy and sounds good that's all that matters.

I bought a demo unit of this pedal from a well known online retailer last Thursday. I really like the tone this pedal give me, but Saturday when I was playing through it there was a few seconds of static, then nothing. The pedal would produce no audio whatsoever. I thought I had a cable or battery go bad but those items check out fine.

After troubleshooting I find that with the loop turned off the device produces no sound whatsoever. Interestingly when the loop is turned on it works as expected. I don't use the loop for anything right now which means the pedal is still functional for me. The problem is it isn't working as designed (I don't think) and if I want to make use of the loop in the future I may have issues.

Has anyone else had this issue like this with the FX loop or have ideas on how to resolve the issue? I have contacted the retailer and plan to work with them to resolve the issue but thought I would throw my experience out there. This is my first pedal so ... IDK, it could be user error.

That unit is not functioning normally. Best to send it back to the dealer.

I use my Micro Pog in the loop to dirty it up a bit, makes the high octave sound less synthetic.
