Wah Question.

Just thinking about what I really miss about the setup I had long ago.

OD -> Wah -> Fuzz

Now, as I will have the fuzz part covered in the next couple of months, but will not be able to fit anymore pedals on my board, just one solution crosses my mind: Get a wah with built in dist (which runs before the wah circuit) and just have it off the board. The advantage of this "off the board" positioning is that there is no real size limit :D

I do have some requirements tho:

1) Must be able to run off 9 or 12 volt DC. Thats what the Voodoo Lab supply produces, so that's what its gotta run. (edit: I can also run 18 volts off the VL)

2) The distortion circuit must run before the units wah circuit. Im totally thinking right now that my spelling of "circuit" is wrong, but im to lazy to use google as a spell check. Whatever.

3) The dist sound im looking for is something with just a little grit. Just enough to make the wah sound REALLY huge, even when fuzzed out. IME wah->fuzz kills whatever wah sound the wah produces.

4) The distortion circuit must run before the units wah circuit. You tired of me being back yet :p :D :bassist:

Thanks.

Oh and before y'all go flamin' my semi-large pasty white ***, I was looking at the morley dist/fuzz/volume, but the fact that its a volume really turns me off. It'd be great if I can turn the dist off separate from the wah, and just leave the wah on, but back.

Ya, im picky. SUE ME. please dont.......

Oh and im looking for something fairly subtle, cus when I had the Dunlop CFH set to subtle (yes its possible) I still got a nice manly sound out of it with the OD in front.

As for why I want a wah that does dist as well: That combo is the only thing I really miss off my old boards, and I dont wanna have only a couple of FX off the board. I also dont wanna go with 2 boards again, tho I prolly will in the future lol  :bawl:

Whatever. Thanks :D

EDIT: I found the scem for the morley: Invalid Link Removed
I think the dist comes after the wah. I also stumbled on the slash sig fuzz/wah by dunlop, but I dont know if anyone has any experience with it, or even if the fuzz comes before the wah. It looks like the hendrix fuzz wah is discontinued :( and it had a pre/post switch for the fuzz. Also stumbled upon the fender fuzz/wah which also has a pre/post switch, but it seems the gain on the fuzz is controlled buy turning the foot pedal left/right. Seems kinda weird to me, and i'd like to not have to concentrate on NOT turning my foot accedentally so i can get a consistant sound....

Ok. so another random thought popped into my head just now.

Why not hook a wah with a boost (in the same unit) into the FX loop of my not yet acquired EBS MicroBass II. The loop is mixable, and if I could get unity gain out of the wah (using the boost) I could use the mix to balance the regular distortion sound with that of the dist->wah sound.

Think that'd work?

Go for it. Any wah with a volume knob should do the trick for that.

Now you've opened your doors again. ;)

Hehe, true.

I even put some more thought into this at work. It was slow.

Im gonna have 2 drive pedals on the board anyways! The Attack Goat is one, and the EBS MicroBass is the other. Ive gotta listen to the sound sample that JazzAd did for the EBS, but im pretty sure there was a fuzzish sound he got. Prolly by maxing the boost on chan A in A+B mode :D Anyway I was thinking that if I could get some subtle high end fuzz from the AG I could just hook somethin up between it and the volume. Considering the blend on the AG, im sure i could dial in something:

Im gonna have a big, long cord going between the out put of the Attack Goat and the input of the volume, but both plugs are gonna be pointing in the same direction. So... Im gonna use that one to go from the out on the AG to the in on whatever wah i have. Then I just punch in another on going from the wah to the volume, with the ends pointing away from each other:

This way I could use any wah I wahnted ;) to. I'd prolly go with the Dimebag sig wah from dunlop, cus thats the one I used before :D

Crazybones..... :D
