Waiting on Dr. Bass

Wondering if it's just me. Ordered a Dr. Bass 212 cab end of Feb. Marc was very responsive to my emails and replied quickly when I had pre-order questions. Upon ordering, was told they had the drivers in stock and it would ship end of March. Mid April, still waiting but more importantly, I've recieved NO replies to several email inquiries requesting updates. I find this unacceptable. I know they are busy fulfilling orders ahead of mine but it strikes me as odd that when the ORDER is on the line, replies are plentiful but after my $$ is committed, I get brushed off. If they indeed had my drivers in stock, why am I waiting? (or was I lied to?) Anyone else having this experience?

I got immediate and speedy replies pre order also, now no replies to 2 emails in the past 2 weeks. I wonder if he is alright. I am still within my 4 weeks time period. However, if 4 weeks comes and I do not have my cab or a tracking number I am canceling my order and buying some carvins.

It took a little longer than promised to get my 112LF, but it came, and I like it a lot. If you're really worried, give them a call. I tend to cut small operations some slack on this sort of thing, anyway.

I'm in exactly the same boat. According to promises my 112LF should have been here last week and no response to one email. But I am not worrying about it and if I do than I will call. Small operation putting out a great product is tough. Would be nice to know the situation but everyone seems to get there cab eventually and like it. I'd rather wait a while for a good product any day. :hyper:

Think about it. What do you want them to do? Reply to your emails or build you your cabinet. Small operations don't have the time to do both. If the company has built up a good solid reputation they are not likely to sully that reputation over one small order. Even in the best of times unforeseen delays happen. Patience, my friend, patience. :)

If they don't have time to do both, then why did they have time to reply to me BEFORE I'd committed my money to the deal? I'm sorry, good biz REQUIRES good communication regardless of the size of the operation. A simple reply would take all of 2 minutes. If there's 20 customers waiting, that's 40minutes out of their day (less if there's a couple of people responding). That's not unreasonable IMO. Again, they make the time when they're trying to make the sale. I understand delays, I just want to know what to expect and every customer should be granted that respect when their money is committed.

Have you tried calling? Maybe you guys are having some kind of email issue, cause I placed an order in late Jan. that should ship any day (610! He had to build a prototype and everything, so it's about the wait I expected) and I've never had any trouble getting in contact with Marc, email or by phone.

If you check the Dr. Bass club thread you'll find they had some problems with their speaker supplier being late/not enough speakers to go around, so add that to the fact that its a small operation and theres your wait time and un-responsiveness.
I have to say that for a small operation I have been impressed by the communication on TB from Chuck in the Dr. Bass thread. Not always timely but he chimes in to answer any question or give advice.
I cant wait to get enough for a Dr. Bass cab (Just cant decide which one!)

Again, I was told when I ordered that the drivers were in stock so there shouldn't have been supply issues. Point is, if you're promised a certain ship date and the manufacturer can't come through, they should be notifiying their customers of this fact. It's not like I just put down a deposit, I've paid in full. The least they can do is let me know what's happening. I'll call them but I wish I didn't have to.

I understand your frustration, but if DR.BASS has been affected by our current economy like most businesses have, it's quite understandable. I work in the lumber industry, and back in Dec and Jan people just weren't buying, so in turn we had a lot of time to answer questions and pursue customers. Now that it's spring, things seem to be turning around and I hardly have anytime to keep my ear on the phone, my eyes on the email, and get what I need to get done in the yard. It may be the same with these guys right now. As far as their drivers are concerned, I remember reading something about how they had gotten a bunch of crossovers that were disfunctional, perhaps they're in the same boat again with these drivers.

I just got my 1580 today. Ordered it mid- December, told it would be ready mid-January. I ordered my RX212 about 2 years ago, and it was the same deal. There is a large difference between the promised delivery and actual delivery based on my sample of 2. If you read other postings in this forum, you'll see this is a fairly regular occurrence.

Dr. Bass makes great cabs, at a great price. Top drawer stuff. However, you will have to wait for it, and probably longer than you expected.

Another good point. I emailed because my card was charged. I assumed that meant my cab shipped...because thats how I have always done business...don't charge until I have the product to sell. I haven't heard back, but its good to know I do not need to try and stay around the house waiting to see if the cab arrives...because they charge whether it's shipped or not.

Thanks for letting me know.

Did they let the rest of you guys know it was on its way when it was on its way without you having to call?

Yeah I'm curious about that too. I know Chuck said he was gonna call everybody in the Dr. Bass thread who was delayed...

I work for a small manufacturing company and whenever we promise someone a ship date, we track the order's progress and contact the customer if/when we can't meet the promised date. Not that hard to do and an email takes 2 minutes to send &/or answer. I'm sure none of us would be too bent by having to wait the equivelent of an extra day so Marc could answer his bevvy of delivery related emails. More importantly, we shouldn't even have to inquire. THEY should be contacting us with delivery adjustment info OR they should take 10% deposits instead of charging full price then leaving us blowing in the wind.

Just wanted to mention that my cab was a week late and got a call from Marc to say the speaker delivery was running a week behind and should be in a few days. He also mentioned that he was on the phone giving others the same update.

Typical manufacturing problem...someone does not get there parts shipped on time. I run into the same problem when scheduling a client for a pc or server upgrade and the manufacturer does not deliver when promised. Screws up everything when it comes to scheduling.
