Wow. Now that really is a bit of a variation on the Wal look with the blocks and the colour. didn't think it was a Wal at first. Very nice indeed.

I have learned this from others posting as well.
Seems someone has too much time on their hands.
In any case...I can attest that it is a great bass as I have one just like it....with more flame in the facing!
Had a Wal Pro II Rosewood w/ wenge body built in 1983. Picato Strings.
Whoa, that was a rocket of a Fretless bass.Bombproof Flight case.
Had met with Percy Jones and a couple other guys in the NYC area at the time to play theirs and get my particulars together. Was given a bunch of photos of basses Wal had built up to that time -still got em too.
Eventually took lessons from Percy, Great Guy.
Problem was at that time of the build told Pete that I needed a narrow neck at the nut, ala Jazz bass width.
Somewhere that info got misplaced and they used the 'standard' Wal neck dimension.
So after waiting 3 months for build time etc. when the bass came over air freight to here, had to deal with it which was fine. Since the tone etc was awesome.
The airport customs inspection guy took one look when I opened the case and he said "okay good to go !" Case could've been filled with who knows !!!
Will post pics later on.

Sorry to say I've left the club, I sold my Wal Mk2 5 a few months back, after finding I was more comfortable with my pre-Gib Tobiases. Oh well, I don't regret owning one, even for a small while.
Also wanted to report that the guy who bought it off me, a Thomas S Barr ([email protected]), of Downers Grove, IL, decided to rip me off $500 in the process. There was a mixup with the Fedex shipping and the delivery ended up being marked as seller pays import duty, so the US Customs guys released the bass to him and billed me instead. (Which was never part of the deal.) Fedex wouldn't do anything about it, so I started emailing Thomas to get it sorted out, but after a month or more and 4 or 5 emails, have heard absolutely nothing. Time to start with the phone calls, see if I get any further with that!
In other words, I would advise not dealing with this guy, especially if money is involved.

Thanks for sharing. I love my black poly MkI... which, while not as fancy-looking as some Wal basses, sure nails the Power Windows sound perfectly.
wal's are the only fancy basses i like and its mostly because of this guy (no its not justin from tool)

Yeah, I really love the look of some of those wood grains on Wal basses, but I just had to get the black poly finish. It just looks so good with that dark fingerboard and the gold hardware.
If you haven't heard Mick Karn passed away yesterday. Sad news for the Wal bass community as he made very memorable sounds from his Wal fretless. If your not familiar look him up.
