WAL basses : Pete era x Paul Herman era

Anyone notice any difference between Wal basses made in these different eras ? After and Before Pete Stevens death !

hey. can't say from experience yet. but a few people in the wall club thread have said the current Paul era Wal's are as good if not better. YMMV. I have a Pete era wal on the way today and a Paul era wal on order for 2014. check back with me in about a year.

I think B42 and I are the only ones here who have both.

The standard thin satin neck finish I'm not crazy about. My next one will get a gloss neck like my old ones. The build quality and attention to detail is absolutely fantastic. The tone on my new one is warmer than my old ones, not quite as edgy on the attack. But it's all good.

Yeah ! I also prefer the standard high gloss neck finish on the old ones. I think the ones that have serial # 3000 are the ones before 1990, and they have this glossy neck. By the way, Paul Herman era ones are much better well made and lighter basses than the Pete ones. I'll receive my custom Black MKI with gold hardware and MOP Blocks inlays.

By the way, where can I found the WAL bass club on this forum ?

I have a Pete era gloss bass. I like it a lot, feels great.
Never played anew one yet, big shoes to fill.
