wal specs

i cant dig up the specs on a 4 string wal march 1. (string spaceing, nut width, in perticular).
does anyone know what they are or do you have to specify when you order one?

if you want to order one, you must really want one! Pete is very busy and the waiting list for a wal is like at least one year... if you really want one, i suggest you to do like i did, get a used one (i got 2). If you don't feel it like the ONE, you can still resell it (they have a good market).
ps: i kept both mine (a 4 stringer mk1 and a fiver mk2)

they are so hard to find! I recently racked my brains looking for a MK2 4-string and finally gave up.. I've since decided to stick with Fender for now.. but should a great deal on a Wal come my way, I might be tempted.. they are damn good basses.

On my MkI, the neck width at the nut is 1 5/8".
The string spacing at the bridge is about 18mm from the center of one string to center of the next string, and 2 1/8" from the center of the E string to the center of the G string (a little tighter than a Fender).

That's easy for you to say. But used Wal's in the States is near impossible to find now. There are probably a hundred people waiting for a used one to show up, so the ones with deepest pockets are going to get it.
I remember a year and a half ago you could find them out there for $1700 used, but now they're selling for $2800 and climbing.

I'm glad I bought mine over 20 years ago.
My total (including bass, case, shipping, & customs/duty fees) was $1275 brand new and built for me.

im wondering why that guy whos left making the guitars doesnt get in an apprentice to help him....that way when he eventually retires the wal name and guitars can live on.

great guitars ..lousy business plan!!

also i used to own a wal and while they are great guitars i dont miss the shoulder ache or the grooves in the fretboard or the dodgy electronics that couldnt be repaired....god help the guy that bought that bass.

Wal has no email address. The only way to get in touch with Pete is by phone or by fax -- and then, unfortunately, a large percentage of your calls and faxes will go ignored.

You probably sent an email to steve c., whose wal basses web site is semi-official.

Yes, but that is a statement from 1/4/2003. I would doubt the accuracy of this time period today.

Check the date (1/4/2003): old news. Don't sell your basses to place an order for a Wal.
