Walker & Williams Straps

Okay guys & gals, I just got my C-20 strap from Walker & Williams today. Very nice, high-quality leather, and very comfortable. Not the best pics, but gives you an idea. If I hadn't bought a bunch of Mono Betty's over the past two years I'd get some more of these in different styles. Nice products - nice prices!

Will Dunlop straplocks work with these straps?
I'm not sure. I use the neoprene washers, which work fine. The leather is fairly thick though. I've never used Dunlops. I used to use Schallers before switching to the neoprene washers about 8 or 9 years ago. I think it would have been a struggle getting the Schallers on without compressing the leather a bit.

Are these W&W straps made from real leather?
I have read that they are not.
Not sure if everything they offer is, but the Premium Series is real leather. Should say in the description for each strap. (Just click on any of the straps that catch your eye and a description should come up.)
I couldn't find one of these that adjusts short enough (38") so I ended up ordering a Levy's 3.5" padded strap instead.
My problem is usually the exact opposite. Most straps aren't long enough...

I was looking at straps when I came across these WW straps. After further checking these out I've read and seen a video that says their straps, even the Premium Series, are made with bicast leather. They look good, but I wonder about their durability.

Well, you're way ahead of me then. I don't even know what bicast leather is. I only have one strap from them so far, but it sure looks and feels like quality leather to me. But like I say, I'm no expert. Seems very well-made though. I can't imagine that it wouldn't last seemingly forever.

I got one about two years ago. Looked good for the price. I have so many straps it got little use...now the fake leather has flaked off all the padded parts and is starting to do that on the edges of the rest...but everyone who's bought one probably knows that.

I use my Walker & Williams B4-B Super Wide 4" (Double Padded Black Top Grain Leather) Strap with all of my heavier basses..my 4003 Rick, 2017 SR5 EBMM, Peavey5 DynaBass all have Schaller buttons fitted and the strap has the locks attached both ends and tightened down with the large washer and nut...it did compress the edges of the leather a bit but they are tight and on those 3 basses the playable length is about right. Its a beautiful strap and the 4" width really spreads the weight on my poor old arthritic shoulder and back loll I love this strap. Changing basses is very quick and easy. My other lighter basses use a 3" vinyl Couch strap. Also a great strap. Giff.

Couldn't help but notice this though it's been a dormant thread for a few months but "top grain" leather is compromised for appearance i.e. the first few mms have been sanded to remove surface imperfections. High quality leather is indicated as FULL grain leather. I say compromised because sanding the skin compromises durability for the sake of appearance. There is no way their stuff is handmade at the prices they're charging. Single needle stitching means machine stitching. Handmade is usually saddle stitched with two needles. I make leather goods as a hobby business so this stuff riled me, sorry!
