Wampler Belle - Why is no one talking about it for bass?

I got wind of the Wampler Belle as a transparent drive fairly quickly after announcement, and watched through a few of the first demo videos for guitar. I was super interested, but wanted to hold out for a bass demo. No mentions of it here. I kept looking into it, and even the pedal it is based on, the Nobels ODR-1, and I found exactly one video.



Okay, that is pretty much just a demo of one setting with a P-Bass. Eventually I gave up and took the dive. Sweetwater package just showed up today, plugged it in to my headphone amp with an ESP and a Thunderbird, and ho-lee crap. Worth every penny. Definitely does the transparent thing well, cranks up nicely, and doesn't lose any bass.

I'm liking the asymmetric clipping mode most at this point, I cannot wait to wire this thing into the rest of my rig and see how well it plays with everything else.

I was hoping someone would take the punt! I’ve always loved that video but a lot of the smaller nobels inspired pedals claim ‘tighter bottom’ so I feel like they’d be less suitable.

So it doesn’t kill the low end like a tube screamer does?
I like Wampler pedals a lot this might be worth trying for sure

My buddy has an OG ODR-1. I'll have to try it with my bass.

I read the ODR-1 was favoured by numerous Nashville session cats, their secret weapon, and that it has a ton of low end (for a guitar) that is difficult to dial out (why anyone would want to dial OUT low end, even guitarists, is beyond me).

Not at all.

I got a bit of a chance to play around with it at rehearsal on Thursday, it definitely has potential. Didn't play as well with the SFT I have been using as an always on, but I have been toying with replacing that anyway. I might end up replacing it with the Belle, actually. If definitely hits the subtler drive settings well, but feels like it needs a different EQ than I was using to sit right in the mix at higher gain settings.

I'd say it sits somewhere between the TC Spark Booster and a higher gain overdrive. Maybe a brighter version of the MojoMojo. It doesn't do perfectly clean like the Spark Booster, but has a warm drive without getting fizzy. There is a lot of variance in the color knob without even hitting the clipping switch, I think this is one of those all-purpose overdrives everyone could find something in.
