Warmoth Body For a Jazz Bass

only bought guitar bodies from warmoth (3 of them) but all 3 have been top of the line. i think you're definitely on the right track! get a nice body so you don't devalue your bass with a refinish. then later on get a warmoth neck (also great quality!) and you'll have 2 basses :D careful. warmoth / USACG / parts instruments can be very addicting.

I'm looking to just get a normal replacement, solid, alder wood, rear routed, to replace my existing body. Are there any special types of wood that you would reccomend over alder?

I think alder is a great tone wood. Depends on if you want something with a pretty grain to finish natural or if you're going to buy one already finished from them. If you want to buy an unfinished body that looks cool with just a natural clear coat on it, and sounds a lot like alder, you should try some black limba (korina). My next Warmoth is going to be made out of that.
