Why is it that I can't get a Warmoth neck that is bound, but has 20 frets? I don't want their overhanging fretboard extension, I hate how it looks and I'm happy with 20 frets. Anyone know how to get them to make a 20-fret neck with black binding? Would it cost any extra?

I think you can, by way of the custom neck builder.
EDIT: nevermind, i just tried it. its 21 or 24 frets only... Maybe send them an email and ask real nice?

You can't do it using the custom neck builder. If you set it to 20 frets, and then select binding, the fret option reverts to "optional," and you have to select 21 or 24 frets.
Im not sure but im guessing it has something to do with the binding down that end and there not being much wood after the 20th fret, but im not sure.
20 fret necks usually havethe rounder corners at the end, which means theres no efficient way (that I know of) to do the miter joints...or whatever youd call a joint going around a curved corner

warmoth just doesn't do a bound one with 20 frets. i don't like the overhanging board either so when i want one like that, i use allparts necks, which IMO, are better necks anyway (i.e. more true to a vintage fender in both shape, feel, sound and weight).
