Warmoth neck, Self or factory finish?

I'm just about to pull the trigger on a Warmoth neck, Roasted maple/Roasted maple combo.

I have experience sanding down gloss necks and applying Tru oil. But i've never had to deal with the Fret board and frets when refinishing. Is there something else to consider when finishing a neck when it comes to deal with a fret board and frets?

the other option being to simply go with the Warmoth nitro satin finish

Maple/Maple necks are a pain when it comes to finishing them. If you've got the patience to steel wool the frets to get the tru-oil off of them, I'd say go for it. I recently did a maple neck with spray nitro and spent a good amount of time cleaning up/sanding the fretboard and getting the frets in good shape.

If the upcharge isn't too much, you might want to leave it to Warmoth to finish the neck.

Warmoth does not clean up the frets after finishing though. They say their finish will just wear off the frets as you play it.

Can’t really go wrong either way, though. For me, personally, the advantage to have warmth Do it would be fret cleanup. If you like TO and are comfortable applying it, I’d go that route (and have before). I did recently nitro spray a neck and that’s really a nice feel as well.
