I have a warmoth jazz neck on a squire p body. The neck is an ebony fb on a wenge neck. Thinking of buying a black korina p body to go with it.

The neck is heavy at 1.2 kilos, but the weight is worth it. It feels spectacular and is super stable.

nah, it's just to protect it, so it doesn't get dirty... (wood will turn grey/black/green)

The wood is turning all sorts of really cool colors. As long as I steel wool (0000) it when I change strings, it keeps it very clean and smooth. The colors just add to the character of the wood and the look.

How's that sound?

The Bqart "open, airy, sound; with not so much mids, and kinda overpowering highs and lows" sound has never worked well for me...

yup , this bass is passive .

... hmmm , never had any problems with " overpowering " highs or lows ...
although the mids are somewhat lacking .
i may have to look into changing the tone pot , or maybe change the capacitor ...

weight is heavier than any of my P-Basses , and i really only use it at practice these days ...

How do you like the Nordstrands? What are the controls?

I've got the DC's in my Skyline, but I really need to pull the Bart NTMB-L preamp before I give it any kind of judgment. They seem like nice pickups. I really want to hear what they sound like without the Bart coloration. And coil splitters - I've gotta have the coil splitters!

Walnut on alder body, finished with tru-oil. Birds eye maple neck, ebony fingerboard.
She was put together in 2002.

I love these pickups. Can get almost any tone with this setup but i use it in single coil mode 90% of the time.

Here is my finally completed Warmoth Fretless (Black Korina body with oil finish, raw Wenge neck with lined ebony fingerboard, DiMarzio Ultra J's) and my trusty Warmoth Fretted (Trans-red finish over black korina, raw padouk neck with ebony fretboard and DiMarzio model J's). Both play sweeeeeeet!

How do you guys like the Gecko necks, and what would you compare them to?

Here's mine:

Gecko-5; (medium) birdseye maple neck with redwood top on mahogany body; Bassline active soapbars on an OBP-3. That Kahler bridge is a bitch to intonate.

Mine is very soon finished! Gecko 6 Black korina with Wenge/Ebony neck.
Aguilar OBP-3 and Barts soon in.

I've heard of singing in the shower, but playing bass in the shower??? Haha I might have to try that sometime. Gorgeous bass btw!

Doing an electronics upgrade on it in the next weeks, a good shielding job, an Audere preamp and Nordstrand NJ4SV pickups to replace the current EMGs.
